DirecTV is certainly losing grounds to other satellite TV service providers in the United States. Owing to its numerous allegations and controversies, which are even at present increasing, DirecTV seem to be completely debacle. In fact, there is yet another complaint against the provider. All these issues are surely affecting the reputation of the company, slowly though. According to this recent allegation, a subscriber has expressed his grief and anger that DirecTV billed him for uninstalled services, which is a sheer portrayal of negligence and carelessness. How can a huge company like DirecTV commit such a blunder with its customers?
Getting to the facts and figures of this horrid incidence, this subscriber has signed up with DirecTV. But installation could not be done due to some HOA approval, which needed 2 months time. And so his services were cancelled, as installation was not done. So, once the approval was received, the subscriber called up for re-instate his account, but nothing could be done by the DirecTV customer care (whom we have known by now as non helpful). However, he was billed for the first month. This was not an issue with him.
Finally, the service was restored but instead of a base package, he had to take the NFL pack, which was a loss for him. To make the matter worse, he was continued to bill for the old service, which was never installed!! His several calls to DirecTV turned futile as nothing was done in his favor. He spent hours on the phone, and every time he was told that a supervisor would get back to him. But unfortunately no one responded. He was continuously billed and double-billed, which was very annoying for him; however, the customer rep could not figure out what was going wrong! As a result, he had to cancel his credit card, which he didn’t want to be charged anymore! Charging him early cancellation fee was the height of DirecTV malpractices, because the company was charging him for the services which he never discontinued, just postponed!

He complaints that as soon as the NFL playoffs began, he immediately called up the satellite TV DirecTV to cancel the extra channels aired with NFL ticket, which was agreed upon by the DirecTV representative over the phone.
But to his surprise, he noticed that he is still continuing to receive those channels. To his shock, he even received the monthly bill for the same. Once again when he called up DirecTV customer care, they simply refused that to do anything about it, as they were of the view that he never called them to cancel the services! This is really awful to know that the brand company like DirecTV can play such safe games with its customers. In this incident, the consumer has complained that in spite of repeating the fact that he will not be able to afford to more than $29.99 deal, actually it turned out to be something different. While signing up with DirecTV, the consumer had confirmed the monthly rental several times with the customer representative, who said that he will be enrolled into $29.99 offer. The subscriber even explained this clearly that he would not be able to pay anything more than this as a subscription.
In addition, he told them he required 2 receivers within the same price range so that he can watch satellite TV in his bedroom as well. In fact, even to this the DirecTV rep confirmed that he would receive everything within $29.99 and will not be required to pay anything more. According to the consumer, “I questioned this again and explained to him that I didn’t want any surprises and I didn’t want to agree to something on the phone and get a bill for something totally different. He assured me that this would not be the case.”
However, even after repeated requests and confirmations, everything was in a topsy turvy, when the installation was completed at his place. When he called up, the DirecTV rep told him that they would not be able to provide him what was agreed to him. This was really upsetting was the consumer. He felt deceived, which he actually was! Now, the problem is that neither he can continue with the services nor can he disconnect DirecTV. And the bill that he received from DirecTV was around $400, which is pretty hefty!
