Yes, that’s right! if you may have been thinking the satellite TV providers will be helpless and will not be able to do anything in case their subscribers don’t pay them, then let me clear this for you! DirecTV, a well known satellite TV service provider keeps your credit cards information on their record so that you don’t falter paying the bills on time. This is absolutely correct! To avoid any losses at the hands of consumers, satellite TV giant keeps the necessary cc information, which is unethical.

What is more shocking is that the company reserves the information on file with a condition. This has been proved by an incident that a DirecTV subscriber faced, while he wanted to buy a HDDVR receiver and wanted to replace the usual HD receiver. Without any issues, he agreed to the first few things comfortably. He was even willing to willing to pay handling fee of $26 along with the $99 for the upgrade. Besides, he even agreed to a 24 month agreement. However, when the customer care representative revealed him that if he didn’t allow the rep to keep the credit card info on file, then he will not be able to purchase a receiver, which was really shocking for him.

When he asked for the reason, he was told that in case customers failed to pay bill on time, then the same will be deducted from their credit card. The subscriber was disappointed, as he was with DirecTV for 15 long years. But still he was not allowed to buy the receiver since he refused to allow them to keep cc information on records. As a result, he immediately cancelled the services. When the company cannot trust its long time consumers, then it cannot expect the same from its subscribers as well. So, in case, you are buying anything from the company through credit card, you should be very careful.

DirecTV to charge $30+ for Movies that’s still in theaters! Would you rent it?

Author Sophia Johnson    Category DIRECTV, News     Tags

It has been recently reported by the LA Times that DirecTV, a leader in providing satellite TV services in America, is planning to offer movies on-demand at a price of even more than $30. A subscriber will have to pay a higher rent for movies that are still running in theaters. Post 60 days of opening in theaters, movies will be available to consumers a month before these can be bought on DVDs. According to the Times, “DirecTV is looking to introduce its product by the end of June with movies from 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Walt Disney Pictures is also in talks to join the initiative, the people said, while Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures are not expected to participate initially.” But the question is whether you are willing to pay a rent as high as $30 or even more for movies that can be enjoyed in theaters?

Although DirecTV is planning to offer its subscribers with premium VOD benefit, which has even upset the theater owners, but the most boggling element here is that why would a movie buff rent a movie for such a high price, which he can otherwise enjoy for around $12 in the theater? If we consider an example of a couple who wants to enjoy a night out watching movie, then perhaps this can be less. In fact, considering the cost of food, this will be certainly less, but still who would want to rent movies for such a price tag? Is it just to enjoy a couple of days’ jump from the DVD release? Or is it another master plan of DirecTV to lure in more customers? Finally, what it stands out to be, let’s find out when the offer releases in June. Until then, keep guessing!
